Wildflowers & Light (Third Session)

  • Ended
  • 700 US dollars
  • Crested Butte, Colorado

Service Description

Come experience natures amazing display in the wildflower capital of Colorado, Crested Butte. During this 4 day workshop we’ll be shooting wildflowers during sunrise and sunset for the best lighting. Midday we’ll do post processing techniques and lessons. However, if mother nature produces afternoon storm clouds we will go out and shoot, wildflowers and storm clouds create amazing dramatic scenes, we don’t want to miss it!! Crested Butte has an abundance of lakes and towering peaks to compliment the wildflowers so the composition opportunities are endless. The days will be long and we do shoot rain or shine with the exception of lightning, safety first. 2020 will offer 3 different date options through the month of July, group sizes limited to 5. If you have a group larger than 5 please email me, I can tailor a special workshop for your group. ITINERARY: We will keep a very loose itinerary to ensure we shoot at the best spot for current lighting and weather conditions. If it works out were the whole group arrives in Crested Butte the night before the workshop starts, we can meet that evening to get a plan together for the first morning sunrise shoot, otherwise we’ll just plan on meeting first thing in the am. WHAT YOU’LL NEED: DSLR or mirrorless camera, shutter release cable, sturdy tripod, wide angle (10-24 range), mid to long range lens ( 28-300 range ), rain gear, warm clothes, good hiking shoes, batteries, trekking poles if you have difficulties on uneven ground, sunglasses, headlamps, and filters if you have them. THINGS TO KNOW: The altitude in Crested Butte is just shy of 9,000 feet above sea level, and we’ll be shooting anywhere between 9,000 - 11,000 feet. Altitude sickness can be an issue for some people, please consider this. Also, Colorado in July can still be cold in the early mornings and at night, so choose wisely when packing clothes. I highly recommend not using cotton for any of our photography sessions. IMPORTANT: Before booking, please ensure you read the important info found on the previous page. It outlines accommodation, what is/isn't included, and more.
